Default Julien-K - Death To Analog

It was 2004 when the Electro rock band Orgy last released an album, and it was lacking something when compared to the expectations of many. Now it's 2009, and finally, five years later, Orgy members Amir Derakk and Ryan Shuck are back to doing what they do best.

Julien-K was was born out of the ashes Orgy, a band who seem to have a different take on the term short break than anyone else. Naturally, any one who has heard of Orgy will be expecting some awesome electronic rock from a side project consisting of two of the five piece. With their debut album, 'Death To Analog', Julien-K do not disappoint.

The whole album flows with a quality as clear to the ear as the shrieking synthesisers and grooving bass lines. The songs all seem to differ in both style and pace yet all retain a similarity that helps to make them gel together for the entire 14 track album.

The lead single from the album, 'Kick The Bass' is a much more indie electro style number that wouldn't be out of place on commercial radio, but also fits right into the DJ set at your local rock club. Accompanying the single is a lavish vampire themed music video, guest starring Linkin Park's Chester Bennington.

The definitive stand out track on the album for me has to be 'Technical Difficulties', a song that delivers a massive dose of what made Orgy so great in the first place. A pounding bass line, vocal synths and grinding, whining guitars.

Clocking in at just five seconds under the hour marker, 'Death To Analog' is definitely the soundtrack to an hour of your life you wont have wasted

Death To Analog is out now on Metropolis / Level 7
