{Reviewed} Entwine - Painstained

Finish goth metalers Entwine return from their 2006 album, Fatal Design with their latest offering, Painstained.

This new album sees Entwine really explore the realms of melody driven gothic rock, with vocalist Mika Tauriainen's voice intricately layered over a mass of down tuned guitars, haunting keys and prominent bass.

The lead single from the album, Strife, starts with a fast paced guitar riff that not only sets the pace for the song, but also instantly captures Entwines signature sound. Typical of these Finns, Strife, much like most of the songs on the album is driven by a strong and unrelenting rythem section, provided by Joni Miettinen on bass and Aksu Hanttu on drums.

As much as this album has to offer to the hardcore fans, it also offers a great introduction for new fans. This is a vitally important release for the band, as they are on the brink of an attempt to break the UK market.

Released in England on April 6th, the album will be the first of Entwines 6 albums to have a release in the country, and will be followed by a 'best of', featuring a collection of tracks from the previous 5 albums later this year.

Expect Entwine to become a very prominent name in the goth rock circuit very soon.
