![]() This September saw the return of Paramore with album number three, 'Brand New Eyes'. Led back into the fray by enigmatic vocalist and rock pin up, Hayley Williams, the Tennessee pop rock band have seemingly picked up where their 2007 album, 'Riot', left off. Right from the albums opening track, 'Careful', it is clear that the band have found a sound they enjoy, and are sticking to it. The upbeat and catchy guitar riff, pop punk drum beat and Williams' distinctive voice instantly enforce Paramore's trademark sound. The first single from the album, 'Ignorance', will sound very familiar to any fan of the band. It's very much in the vein of earlier singles, such as 'CrushCrushCrush' or 'Misery Business'. This is not to say that it is too similar however, as it sounds fresh and different and is a great choice for a single to showcase the album. The new single, 'Brick By Boring Brick' will be released this November and showcases Hayley's ability to view the world through fairytale tinted glasses. Lyrics focusing around a world of magic, princes and damsels in distress are acompanied by a softer sounding guitar and a drum beat not unlike the work of Blink 182's Travis Barker. Whilst 'Brand New Eyes' may not be a big depature from 07's 'Riot', it is a great follow up, and it's sure to please both the hardcore fans, and those who are only familiar with the bands singles. Brand New Eyes is out now on Fueled By Ramen Last edited by Prelude; 10-18-2009 at 07:41 PM. |
