Chaotic isn't it? When I name an article after myself. I fear to say I am writing this fairly intoxicated thus I have a underlying concern what I write shall make no sense. In my normal tradition I do not think much into the future when it comes to these articles. I simply write what spawns out of my mind. However because I am not running even by a concept I decided on the title above. If it turns out to be something else.. Well..... Smeg it.
I often take my time with drinking. Wine usually. I love a good red wine. However drinking this poisonous liquid is dangerous by all accounts. I did some reading on alcohol and its... Well scary in a more scientific thought. And yet we drink it. We drink it in taste, addiction, abuse and sometimes just for the sake of it. If someone saw me sipping a glass of bleach they'd call me mad but if its hidden well enough with fruits, sugars and yeast it'll become a social demand and acceptable action. What utter nonsense. So I come to ponder why is it some things are acceptable but things on the same margin (in this purest forms) are not. Lets take drugs as an example since I am also discussing wine. Now without promoting certain actions there are people who smoke, inject and swallow a variety of drugs some of which no more or less horrific than tobacco or alcohol and yet they are usually deemed demons of society. Now don't get me wrong I am not saying "OH YES EVERYONE GET SMASHED ITS ONLY FAIR" be it with pills or poison but that thought just hits me on the temples. Some consider this a double standard. Saying that alcohol has been known to cause some havoc but not enough for it to be hellish. And of course there is the profit side of things in legal drugs. Taxation, general sales, advertisement and dependence are a gold mine in every sense. But it would wonder why flooding the markets with the taboo terrors into the stream of society. So it cannot be a money thing.... How about a medical issue? Well though I cannot quote the exact words or location I remember glancing through some general newspapers as I used to do when sitting on the bus going to work and reading if alcohol was discovered in these times it would be considered a "Class C" drug in the United Kingdom (to those outside the UK that would be the same as general "weed") and tobacco would be a Class B (Again same example be around the drug "Cocaine"). So perhaps its not a medical or government issue... Then... What the buggery is it? What makes one thing acceptable but one thing not? Its not government laws, its not money... its not even an issue of scientific comparison. Addictive poison is addiction poison regardless of what form it comes in. If you wished to top yourself on these items it would be possible on legal or illegal substances. Well I come to one single answer. Reputation. They say a wall takes years to build but seconds to destroy. Nothing as true as when it comes to reputation. It applies to humans, items, drugs, games, teams, work, companies my lord you name it and its very reputation defines almost everything about them. Not to mention first impressions becoming the basis of all future comparisons and examinations. So what did we learn in drunken ramblings? 5 things 1. It still produces the same nonsense which people sometimes read 2. Alcohol drinking inspires alcoholic thought 3. Its still poison, but I love it 4. I find it very difficult to find a good ending to this article And 5.......... Well see 4 |
